Duck racing and tractor riding at Quickes Farm’s Open Farm Day event
Each year at the start of the summer there is a wonderful happening across the UK, it’s called Open Farm Sunday and it does what it says on the tin.
This year we visited Quickes Farm near Crediton. Here we met up with Lauren (Eating Exeter) and Steve (Chilli head Chef) and bumped into our very own Liz Finnie with her hubby Neil and their brood.
We had a lovely day and I’m sharing it with you in pictures:
In the field there were plenty of activities to get involved in.
The kids got to use the tractors to lift and shunt things around.
Have to admit that my highlight was the duck race, can you spot Donald Trump there (in the pink at the back)?
There were some very sweet calves to look at (a nice reminder that it’s good to be a vegetarian).
And a rat race made of hay bales and netting that the kids happily climbed over and under for ages!
Quickes is famous for it’s cheese and there was an opportunity to see how the cheese is made. We could also check out the shop and eat some fabulous cakes at wonderful Cakeadoodledoo.
We had a great few hours (it was a bit of a speedy trip).
Quickes farm shop and Cakeadoodledo are open Monday – Saturday so you don’t need to wait for an open farm day to check it out. They have a fab website with more information here, pop along and have a look for yourself!
