Lazy Sunday swim and roast dinner at Cofton
After a few false starts with other companies, Our kids are learning to swim at Riverside, the teachers there are fantastic and as an added bonus the kids get to swim free any time with their £22 per month membership (which makes for a great cheap and easy leisure activity).
On Sunday we decided to treat ourselves to a swim a little further afield..
Living in Devon means that out of season you can pop along to the caravan parks and use their facilities, Ladram Bay is usually our go-to pool for a treat but it is now closed for the season, so on Sunday we headed to Cofton Holiday Park near Dawlish to pretend that we were on holiday (go for a swim and eat Sunday lunch).
Cofton does seem to be a popular choice on a Sunday and when we got there (at around 11.30am) it was very busy. To swim in November it costs £4.50 for an adult and £3 per child or you can opt to dip and dine for £12 adults and £8 for children which essentially gives you £1.50 off per adult and £1 off per child. It isn’t the most generous offer but we thought we would go for it and try their lunch offering.
The pool is clean, welcoming and most importantly warm. There are water fountains to run through in the pool area and jacuzzi seat and two areas to swim in. It isn’t massive by any stretch of the imagination, but it’s a good size for play and early days swimming. There isn’t a shallow end so you will need inflatables for your toddler / preschooler. There is also a gym, a steam room and sauna and a soft play.
After the swim, the children were very happy to play while we ordered our roast dinners. The soft play is located in Amelia’s restaurant and the carvery is downstairs in the Warren Retreat so we headed down there.
The room was set up for Christmas with a sparkling tree and gold and red balloons over the tables. The carvery was serving turkey, pork beef or a veggie nut roast with a variety of vegetables and it did what it said on the tin. There is also a stage in the Retreat and after lunch the kids had great fun playing with the other kids and we had some precious relaxation time.
We enjoyed out time at Cofton and we will definitely be heading back when the weather is better to swim in the ourdoor pool.
