Debenhams Beauty Gala, guest post by Liz Finnie

Our Liz popped into Debenhams last week for their beauty gala, here’s how she got on..

The majority of ladies feel better when they look good; and this is no exception for those who are experiencing the visible side effects of cancer treatment – namely loss of hair, eyebrows and eyelashes, as well as skin-related issues. The national charity Look good feel better focus on bringing self-confidence and wellbeing back for many cancer patients through fun and relaxed beauty tutorial sessions whilst supplying the necessary confidence kits.

I recently met the lovely Jennie Moxom, who runs these sessions at the Force Cancer Support Centre in Exeter, at her charity beauty gala in Debenhams.

In fact, Debenhams are a major supporter of the Look good feel better charity with many of their beauticians volunteering their time to run the workshops and many of the beauty companies themselves supplying the products.

On my arrival to the gala, the floor manager Ryan Middleton kindly supplied me with fizz, canapés from Cafe Rouge, cakes  from Debenhams and Carluccios, and an amazing goodie-bag filled with a range of sample products.

Surrounded by pink Look good feel better balloons and music by local musician Fintan May and friends, I soon gravitated towards the Bare Minerals counter and was greeted by Lisa who gave me a fabulous make-over, tutorial to make me glow (with extra help from the fizz) and extra goodie bag. I also learned that Bare Minerals run a range of free make-up tutorials for individuals and small groups, so if you’re a novice like me, it could be something to try.

Finally, the Clarins facial looked super relaxing and the Benefit brow wax bold –in fact Benefit are running their Bold is beautiful Project whereby for every brow wax in the month of May they will donate to charities that improve the lives of women and girls.

So if you’re looking for beauty advice and inspiration, or want to know more about the ongoing charity work that Debenhams promote, go in and have a chat with any of the beauticians.
