Feeling like a new woman with a Zone facelift (no Botox or surgical equipment in sight)
We had a good giggle when I told my friend that I was going for a facelift. She thought it was a bit drastic until I explained that there would be no knives, needles or pain involved.
I’m a big fan of reflexology. I’ve experienced it on my feet a few times and found it to be incredibly relaxing and therapeutic. So when Lesley Tucker emailed me to invite me to a treatment that combines “facial reflexology points with Japanese massage techniques” – in the form of the highly praised Zone Facelift (the one that all the celebs are talking about) – how could I resist?
The Zone Facelift is an all-natural, non-invasive form of facial massage. Tagged the ‘Spiritual Facelift’, the Zone Facelift was created in London by Ziggie Bergman “facial reflexologist to the stars”. Based on the principals of reflexology, where each part of the face corresponds to a part of the body, the therapy tightens, lifts and sculpts facial muscles. Leslie also explained that it helps to balance emotions and will leave you feeling relaxed and calm. According to her website:
The face is a mirror to your health and wellbeing. Stress can be seen on the face in frown creases, deep lines, sallow skin and dark circles with muscles becoming fixed or weak resulting in sagging skin. The Zone Lift Treatment will give you all the benefits of a traditional reflexology session, providing a deep sense of relaxation combined with improved skin tone and facial texture.
Just what the doctor ordered…
I was very stressed when I went for mine, squeezing it in between work and more work. On the day of my treatment, I hit Gandy Street with furrowed brow, and I was so tense that my shoulders resembled boulders!
Lesley has a room in the Exeter Natural Health Centre, a relaxing space in a tucked away location in the city centre on Queen’s walk above The Cavern club. The health centre is home to many therapists and the Derek the Dog yoga classes (that I’ve been meaning to try for ages!) Lesley also had a treatment room in Barnstable.
Lesley is warm, knowledgeable and (most importantly) passionate about what she does. After welcoming me, she talked through the treatment, explaining what she would be doing and the equipment she would be using. This included the Zone Face Lift Elixir an award-winning “silky Amethyst Crystal-Infused Elixir which hydrates and tightens your skin and has been shown to significantly reduce fine lines and help you look radiant” (sounds amazing doesn’t it?)
She explained that it is a facial treatment designed to work on the mind, body and spirit, hailed as a natural alternative to botox and fillers. Lesley says:
It is so much more than just a facial as it is based on reflexology techniques – many of my clients are totally zoned out after their sessions reporting it is as though they have been in a meditative state.
I took off my shoes, laid down and relaxed.
Lesley was right, after my treatment, I was sooooo relaxed I floated off the couch and out of the door. I, honestly, felt like a new woman. My skin was brighter, my stress dissipated and (miracle) my brow was less furrowed. It was a gorgeous, relaxing experience that I will definitely revisit.
After the session, Lesley made some great suggestions for lifestyle changes and told me how to work on my face at home to reinforce the work she had done on my brow. I have no doubt that if I went every week I’d be feeling amazing, looking younger and full of the joys of Spring in no time!
The Zone Facelift isn’t cheap at £70 per session, but it is pretty bloody amazing! My Mum is starting the full course this week and we will be reporting back with week-by-week photos and a diary so look out for that.
Lesley’s skills and the Zone Facelift gets a massive Exploring Exeter thumbs up, we can’t wait to see the result after a full 12-week course.
