The festive season has officially arrived in Exeter, and there’s no better way to celebrate than with a trip to see Cinderella at the Barnfield Theatre. Running until Saturday, 13th December, this traditional pantomime promises dazzling costumes, toe-tapping songs, hilarious comedy, and plenty of audience participation.

Get ready to laugh, cheer, and boo as the story unfolds – following Cinderella on her journey from rags to riches with the help of her Fairy Godmother, a pair of sparkling glass slippers, and of course, a little pantomime magic. Will she escape her wicked stepmother and make it to the ball before the clock strikes midnight?

Our contributor Boudicca attended with her daughter to see what all the festive fuss is about. Here’s her review:

Review by Boudicca L M Woodland

My daughter and I both had such a brilliant evening watching Cinderella at the Barnfield Theatre last night. It’s everything you hope for in a traditional panto – fun, lively, and packed with those joyful, silly moments that bring the whole audience together. The cast delivered a wonderful mix of humour, charm, and sparkle, with plenty of chances for everyone to join in.

The Ugly Sisters were a real highlight, stealing scenes with their comic timing and colourful chaos. Truly though, the whole ensemble shone with delightful dancing and stunning singing.

Exeter Little Theatre Company deserves a special mention for their dedication to creating high-quality, community-centred theatre. Their productions are always crafted with care, showcasing local talent both on stage and behind the scenes, and their commitment to making the arts accessible and enjoyable for all ages really came through in this performance. It’s clear how much love and hard work goes into their shows.

Overall, Cinderella is a joyful, heartwarming panto brought to life by a fantastic cast and an organisation that plays such an important role in Exeter’s cultural scene. A perfect festive night out.
