Beachside fun this Summer at Queen’s Drive Space, Exmouth

Did you read my blog about the Queens Drive space in Exmouth?

Well we went the other week, and I can confirm it was really good! We took the kids and my friend’s daughter to see ‘the greatest show’ aka the musical obsession of our kid’s generation ‘The Greatest Showman’ (FYI, I have now seen the film a grand total of 4 times and I still enjoy it – it’s up there with the original Annie for me, and that’s quite an accolade, trust me).

We’d had a bit of a stressful week balancing work, friends visiting, prepping our Croydon house to sell and buying a house in Exeter (finally). With all the too-ing and fro-ing and juggling all the tedious grown up stuff, it was the perfect escape!

Lovely Eleanor from McQueenie Mulholland Comms met us with a warm welcome, listened to me have a massive moan and took us along to Kenniford Farm’s Beach Hut for some exceptional fish and chips coupled with a glass of Prosecco from the Oddfellows bar (my kind of pairing).

Apparently, the fish n chips was a very last minute thing for Kennifords (it was so well executed you never would have guessed). The fish was freshly cooked, meaty and not at all greasy – definitely NOT your average fish n chip shop fayre.  The food offering is varied and mouth-watering Including; traditional dumplings from The Earl of Gravy, vegan salads and more at Infusion Cafe, Panda’s pan rolled ice cream, Bush Farm burgers and Big Bear Coffee. The food offer changes and will include Cuban street food.

He wasn’t wrong. Singing covers of modern hits by The Kooks and Ed Sheeran (amongst others) her stunning, dreamy vocal went down perfectly with the summer evening and the prosecco!

The film was being screened in the field next to the food and a lady from East Devon Council was selling popcorn for £1 and hiring out deck chairs for £2, we pitched up and got comfy.

Inevitably, two thirds of the way in two of the three kids got bored – but that was OK because hubby took them to the play park in the drive space, while I stayed with my friends daughter to watch it to the end.

And, because it’s the ultimate feel good film there was dancing in the aisles (on the edge of the field).

It was a lush night, the rain held off and the field was busy. Queens Drive Space gets a massive thumbs up from us for daytime playtime, and for the events in the evening – massive round of applause to the organisers.Beachside fun this Summer at Queen’s Drive Space, Exmouth, Exploring Exeter

In fact, it was so good that Mr EE and I are thinking of going back for two of my favs ‘Life of Pi’ on 10th and ‘Jaws’ on 17th August.
