9 things to do in and around Exeter during February half term.

1. Workshops and activities at  Royal Albert Memorial Museum (£)

There’s lots happening at RAMM this half term including, Little Explorer Classes and Creation Station sessions for under 5s. For older children (8+) there are workshops exploring animation techniques and special effects to tell a story of Elizabethan life and trade in Exeter.

Tickets available online, from the Museum reception in person or by phone on 01392 265858. Opening hours: Tuesday to Sunday, 10am to 5pm. More info here.

2. Go for a swim at Cofton Country Holidays, Dawlish (£)

Have a swim and splash about in Cofton’s indoor pool or buy a dip & dine ticket and head into Amelia’s Café for food after.

We visited Cofton a few months ago, you can read about our experience here.

3. Hire a bike or canoe from Saddles and paddles (£)

One thing I’ve learnt about living in Exeter is that it’s never too cold to get outside! Saddles & Paddles on Exeter Quay are brimming with bicycles and canoes just waiting to be hired. I’ve been running around the Quay for a year now and it’s incredibly cycle friendly. You can see how pretty it is for yourself here.

4. Go on a Red coat tour (free)

The Red Coat tours take place daily and cover everything you need to know about historical Exeter, there are lots to chose from and they are completely free! Take a look at the tour schedule here.

5. take the wee ones Clip N climbing (£)

We still haven’t made it to the indoor climbing wall on the Quay but it’s definitely on our hitlist, kids as young as 4 can have a go – it isn’t cheap though – prices start from £10 per child.

6. Get artistic on the Exeter sculpture walk (free)

Did you know that Exeter has a sculpture walk? I certainly didn’t but I can confirm it does, you can find it on Exeter University’s beautiful Streatham campus where some of the art can be found in University buildings and others pieces are in the beautiful grounds.

7. Head to Exeter’s very own adventure park Crealy (£)

Crealy are open for business and running their ‘Fab Feb giveaway’ where they giveaway a prize a day, more information here.

8. Visit Exeter’s movie museum (Free)

If you’re a family of movie buffs you could check out the Bill Douglas Cinema Museum, home to one of the largest collections of material about moving image in Britain (free).

*Edit: Exmouth and Topsham museums don’t open until the Spring so don’t head there!!

9. Visit Diggerland for half price! (£)

Diggerland in Cullompton is offering half price tickets this February half term so if your children are fans of big machinery get down there and get digging! More information here.
